Women Care, Men Don't

The Facts

  • 33% of Australian women quote walking as their main form of physical activity .
  • The second highest organised and non organised female activity is fitness/aerobics at 13%.
  • Mainstream sporting activity was created by men for men. It is gladiatorial in nature and delivers outcomes regardless of consequence.
  • Generally, women prefer to connect an event to an emotion.

Connecting an event to an emotion

'Talking Women's Sport' at sportshydrant.com/sportforwomen is a platform for women to share their emotions about sport.

Women's Sport. A key issue in the Australian Sport Market

  • There is far less money, sponsorship, coverage in the media, awareness and opportunity available to women than their male counterparts.
  • And yet often, the sporting standard and entertainment value of the female athletes rivals or even surpasses that of the men. The gap between the two sexes is constantly closing.
  • The Sports Hydrant is attempting to raise awareness of Women in Sport and put programmes in place to make this gap even closer.
